Ways to Give 

 Donor Wall

The donor wall is a heartfelt and lasting tribute that celebrates the generosity of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations whose support helps strengthen our hospital and community.

Donations to the Devon General Hospital Foundation are recognized on the interior donor wall mural in the following ways:

• Donations of $100 to $999 are honoured with the donor’s name displayed on a leaf on the wall mural.
• Donations of $1,000 to $4,999 are honoured with the donor’s name displayed on a balloon on the wall mural.

Memorial donations made in loving memory of a cherished individual are also recognized on the wall mural. Families may choose either a leaf or a balloon, with the loved one’s name and year of passing included. Upon request, the names of loved ones may be placed side by side, reflecting the special connections they shared.

In 2003 the Devon General Hospital Foundation commissioned artist Jeanine Brod to create its first donor mural, a tree with leaves recognizing donors who contributed $100 or more. As renovations later required the wall’s removal, all donor names were carefully preserved by dedicated volunteers.

In 2014, Jeanine was commissioned to paint a new donor mural in the front lobby, followed by a second mural in 2015, both celebrating Devon’s natural beauty. Her fourth and most recent donor mural was completed in 2018 and is located near Public Health and Home Care.

 Legacy Wall

The Outdoor Legacy Wall honours extraordinary generosity and lasting commitment to the Foundation. Donors are commemorated with beautifully crafted leaves, each symbolizing a level of support and impact:

• Gold Maple Leaf — donations of $10,000 or more
• Silver Oak Leaf — donations of $5,000 or more
• Copper Aspen Leaf — donations of $2,500 or more

Each leaf is inscribed with the donor’s name(s), creating a permanent and visible legacy that reflects their meaningful contribution to the health and well-being of our community.

 Memory Tree

Understanding that the loss of a loved one can be felt more deeply during the holiday season, the Memory Tree was created as a gentle way to honour and remember those who are dearly missed. Each Christmas, the tree is placed in the hospital lobby and adorned with gold stars, each bearing the name of a cherished loved one.

• For a minimum donation of $10, a star inscribed with the name of a loved one will be placed on the Memory Tree. Multiple family members’ names may be placed in groups on the Memory Tree.

Stars may be purchased in person, through the hospital gift shop, or online using our donation button, offering a meaningful way to remember loved ones while supporting the care of our community.

 Planned Giving

• A Provision in your will leaving a gift to the Devon General Hospital Foundation.
• Life insurance policy naming the Devon General Hospital Foundation as beneficiary.
• A gift of publicly-traded, appreciated securities or employee stock options to the Devon General Hospital Foundation.
• You can choose to make the Devon General Hospital Foundation the beneficiary of either your RRSP or RRIF or to direct some of the income from either to the Foundation during your lifetime or in your will.
• If resale is permitted, the Devon General Hospital Foundation is pleased to consider your gift of real estate. The charitable deduction typically is based on the appraised value.
• The Foundation welcomes the opportunity to consider gifts in kind which might include works of art, antique furniture, mineral or petroleum interests, rare coins and the like.
• Endowment funds are gifts to the Devon General Hospital Foundation where the principal amount is invested and only the annual interest income is used for work of the Hospital.  The principle itself is not spent and continues to generate income annually to provide needed health care resources year after year. Large endowments can be named in honour of your family or yourself.

• Volunteer in the Gift Shop.
