Bursary Program
Purpose of the Bursary
The Devon General Hospital Foundation Bursary Program was established by the Board to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in a full-time Registered Nursing or healthcare-related program. This bursary is intended to support goal-oriented and dedicated individuals who have demonstrated strong citizenship and community involvement.
Bursary Funding
Up to five (5) bursaries of $3,000.00 each may be awarded annually.
Eligibility Criteria and Terms
- Residency: Applicants must reside within the catchment area served by the Devon General Hospital.
- Program Acceptance: Applicants must be accepted into a recognized Registered Nursing or healthcare-related program. Applications are not limited by faculty or year of study—final discretion lies with the Devon General Hospital Foundation Bursary Committee.
- Reference letter: An up-to-date letter of reference from a teacher or education counselor must be included.
- Proof of Acceptance: A copy of the official letter of acceptance into their chosen program of study must be included.
Application Deadline: Completed application forms must be submitted prior to the deadline of September 30th each year.
Selection Process
A Bursary Committee will be appointed annually by the Devon General Hospital Foundation. The committee will consist of:
- Two (2) Foundation Board members
- One (1) representative from the Devon General Hospital
- One (1) community representative
The committee will review applications and make recommendations to the Board for final approval.
